Fall SACSAA Meeting

In the blink of an eye, another school year is upon us and that means our next SACSAA meeting will be here before we know it. Please save the date for our Annual Fall State Agency Children School Administrator Association (SACSAA) Meeting, which will take place on Friday, September 5, 2025, and we will be at a new location this year at the Kentucky Historical Society at 100 W. Broadway in Frankfort, KY. For those of you who are new to KECSAC, we require all school administrators to attend per the MOA regulations. Sign in will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the meeting starts at 9 a.m. EST.

At this meeting we will also be voting for a new SACSAA President-Elect since our former emcumbent is no longer at a KECSAC program. If you are interested in being a nominee or nominating someone else for SACSAA President-Elect, please email cindy.held@kecsac.org by August 29. The President-Elect typically serves a two-year term before assuming the President position, but this will only be a one-year term before assuming the President role. They also attend the KECSAC Interagency Advisory Group meetings five times a year as a member. Travel and lodging for these meetings will be provided by KECSAC. You may nominate yourself, and you may run again if you previously ran in an election.

Sasha Long Behavior Management Series Part 3: Can’t Do or Won’t Do? Solving Classroom Challenges Using Positive Reinforcement & Executive Functioning Skill Building

Virtual - Part 3 of 3 in a Behavior Series

Can’t Do or Won’t Do? Solving Classroom Challenges Using Positive Reinforcement & Executive Functioning Skill Building

Sasha Long, Founder of The Autism Helper presents:

The goal for all general education and special education students is to be learning, engaged, and independent. Begin this process by identifying each learning and behavioral challenge as a Can’t Do or Won’t Do. Is the work or work process beyond your child’s skill level or is the motivation to complete the task not there? Explore learning obstacles by improving executive functioning skills. Learn how to identify executive functioning strengths and weaknesses. Match student strengths with activities they can excel at while simultaneously directly teaching skill deficits. For students who demonstrate the skills need but struggle with the motivation, add a proactive element to your behavior management system by implementing positive reinforcement to increase positive behaviors within your class. Learn best practices related to reinforcement and why it may not be working right now in your classroom. This session is jam packed with ready to use strategies for general education and special education classrooms.
